In the Lull
Within wild sea and storm
Stillness in the centre
Sails tight to mast and boom
Hold your heart open and ride the wild wind
In another art class I was tasked with using a photo of trawler boats at anchor but I found the image too still and flat.
My painting tends to be about the energy of a subject.
This came as a dream image after the class and shows a small sailing craft lifted by the sea and in the lull before an oncoming storm.
I love using dots or single brush strokes to build up the energy of an image.
This painting shows how I imagine it would feel to be in that situation awaiting the storm blow,
battened down, sails stowed and as ready as you can be while still feeling the fear!
