Going Home

Going home to bright Nebulae fire
Welcome and renewal
Somewhere within the wildness of star, planet and unknown space
The planet heart calls

While I do like reading science-fiction and fantasy, this image doesn’t relate to anything I have read or seen as a film.
It was a dream image that stuck with me even as I struggled to represent what I saw.
I see it as a version of the “Mother’ ship notion of generational space travel.
The unusual shape and structure of the ‘ship’ was somehow a key to the painting working despite ‘helpful’ hints
and suggestions about Star Wars and various other representations.
Painting the space and the nebulae was quite challenging but it was also satisfying to show ‘home’.
This was an image that would not be swayed in my mind!!
