Between the Seasons
Winter unbending into spring
Sky and hills cool
Slow burgeoning tree
Delicate magenta buds emerging
Defying chill air
Attuned to warming earth
The liquid amber tree in my front yard was completely bare at the end of winter
and then I noticed small rosy buds on the branches.
The colours of the sky, the cool stillness and the hard grey branches with their buds stayed with me for several days.
I took a photo so that I could represent that sense of the burgeoning growth within the cool bowl of winter light.
